Welcome aboard SV Rumour!
I'm your skipper, Bryan.
One Boat
One Sailor
Join me and Rumour on a transformative journey as we meticulously ready vessel and human for the solo sail from San Francisco to Hawaii and back. Rumour and I will be making the voyage alone. And, we have a lot of work to do before we depart.
My hope is to bring you along on this journey. Rumour is a 1985 Ericson 32-3. Designed by the reputable Bruce King, this third version of the Ericson 32 is known for being a hardy blue water boat. But, based on her age, we need to refit and upgrade many systems on the boat.
Refitting, rigging, navigating, cruising,... we are Sailing Rumour!
Forbes: Why More Americans Are Investing In A Mid-Career Pause
Grateful and thrilled to share my journey on Forbes with James Hudson. I hope messages like this will inspire more people and companies to embrace the practice of career breaks!
"Alone Together": Singlehanded Sailing, LA to Hawaii and Return
Christian Williams inspired my search for an Ericson 32-3 with this video and book. This also planted the seed for the dream of sailing to Hawaii.
Singlehanded Sailing Society
With the inaugural Farallones Race in 1977 just outside San Francisco Bay, the SSS provides a forum and event structure for singlehanded sailors to share their experience, tips, and ideas.
Richmond Yacht Club
This club was built for FUN! I'm constantly amazed by the sailing experience and knowledge shared among my fellow members.
